Hiking on Long Island and the Hamptons

Take a Hike!

The east end provides many areas for hiking and groups to hike with. Land preservation has resulted in large tracks of land available for outdoor activities. I highly recomend hiking with the group hikes offered. It's a great way to learn about Long Island's natural past. Group leaders are very familiar with the fauna, wildlife and geological history of the area. After you get to know the trails, you'll be able to appreciate them more when you hike on your own. Maybe you might even be inspired to lead hikes. There are many groups to become affiliated with. Hike Long Island is a great resource listing groups from all over Long Island.
Hike Long Island THIS WEB SITE IS OF INTEREST TO YOU IF....
You enjoy nature and the outdoors and you want to find something satisfying to do this weekend that will be both kind to you and to Long Island's environment. You realize how much natural beauty still remains on Long Island and you want to play a part in protecting and saving it.
If your interested in running these trails, we have found it helpful to hike or run them first with a group. Getting lost when your running is no fun, and it's very easy to miss a marker. The East End Road and Trail Runners Club
